Last IncidentThe Great Laundry Storm

The Toe Guardian was a reinforced-toe athletic sock specialising in protective wear for high-impact activities.

He is the only victim of the Great Laundry Storm for whom investigators recovered absolutely no fibre traces — a fact that continues to trouble the scientific community.

Personal Account

The reinforcement will hold. It always holds.

The Toe Guardian's toe cap was rated to 4x standard cotton durability and had withstood over 200 athletic events without structural failure.

In the laundry basket community, he was viewed as a protector figure. Socks often positioned themselves near him during high-spin cycles.

DTAB investigators described The Toe Guardian's case as 'anomalous in the extreme.'

Every other victim left at least a partial fibre trace in the lint trap. The Toe Guardian left nothing.

Total Disappearance

Whatever this is, it won't get through me. Get behind me.

Dr. Helga Woolenweave's minority report devotes an entire appendix to The Toe Guardian's case.

She concludes that his disappearance is consistent with 'complete textile dissolution at the vortex aperture's maximum dilation point.'

In plain terms: he was the first sock through, at the worst possible moment.

His reinforced construction, ironically, may have made him more susceptible — the vortex would have needed to apply greater force to process him, resulting in total dissolution rather than partial fragmentation.
