| Last Incident | The Great Laundry Storm |
Marissa Lou was a knee-high cotton sock and one of the longest-serving members of the household textile roster, having arrived in 1991.
She had survived the Hot Wash Crisis of 1996, a tumble-dry incident in 1997, and a brief period of being used as a puppet in 1998, from which she fully recovered.
Marissa Lou's eight years of continuous service represented the second-longest tenure of any sock present during the storm, behind only Old Man Cotton.
She was regarded as stoic and practically experienced, and was one of the socks Captain Woolington specifically invited into the Final Formation.
Due to her knee-high length, Marissa Lou had a larger surface area than shorter socks, which DTAB investigators believe both helped and hindered her survival.
Her length may have allowed her to anchor against the drum wall for longer — but also gave the vortex more to grip.
Witnesses place Marissa Lou in the rear upper section of the drum at 9:47 PM.
Investigators theorise she may have held on for up to 40 seconds after the vortex fully opened — longer than most victims.
This extended exposure may explain why no fibre traces consistent with her composition were recovered: she was likely processed at the vortex's peak intensity.
Her disappearance was the last confirmed before the drum sealed.
